Get your Rock On!

Louder, bigger and better - HUSH!! Full Band is going to bring rock music fans an event to remember
by

HUSH!! Full Band is back and 2013 will see the coolest and biggest rock festival in town take to the Macao Cultural Centre’s Art Plaza to shake audiences to their core in the ninth edition of this event, Saturday November 23.

Fifteen bands are set to rock the territory’s biggest music crowd, bringing five international bands to perform with 10 of the territory’s finest.

Taipei’s post-rock band Sugar Plum Ferry, Tokyo’s hard rockers girugamesh, the Malaysian Deja Voodoo Spells, Beijing rock giant Thinman and Hong Kong’s Supper Moment form the international line up.

Closer to home fans will enjoy HUSH!! regulars, with local bands such as Blademark, Black Sheep, L.A.V.Y., Scamper, Experience and Frontline Caste returning to Macau’s stage. Four more local bands complete this year’s lineup: Matchbox, Bomber, WhyOceans and Joao Gomes e Banda.

With a chill out area and entertaining acts between gigs, this event is expecting a similar turnout to last year, which means an audience of around 6,000 people. If you want to know where the cool crowd will be in November, look no further.

Supper Moment

Formed by Sunny, Martin, CK and Tat in the summer of 2006, Supper Moment wants to reach out to the hearts of its audience through their music, to revive what is most precious in life – emotions. Supper Moment made it to the final round of five in My Favorite Group of the Ultimate Song Chart Awards, and their song 'Little Guy' was also voted by fans as one of the 12 finalists for My Favorite Song of the Ultimate Song Chart Award 2012. The group’s 'After' also topped the pop charts in the first week of 2013.

Thinman

Thinman was formed in 1993. Current members are Dai Qin (vocals), San Er (bass), Guo Zhiyong (guitar) and Hayato (drums). Thinman is recognised as one of the most influential and powerful rock bands in China in the wake of rock icons such as Cui Jian, the Tang Dynasty and the Black Panther. Their music is strong, passionate and contagious, with flowing melodies, vigorous rhythms and superb performances.

Sugar Plum Ferry

Formed in Taipei in 1998, Sugar Plum Ferry are renowned as Taiwan’s most representative post-rock band, with melodies that are distinctively Taiwanese, making up the three albums released so far. The albums as well as the soundtrack score of the movie ‘Spider Lilies’ by the band’s guitarist, Insecteens, are all highly acclaimed. The band is also famous for their legendary and powerful live performances.

Deja Voodoo Spells (DVS)

Deja Voodoo Spells is a Malaysian hard rock band formed by three members: Rithan (vocals/guitars), Ainol (drums) and Mie (bass). The band has opened for international acts like Steve Vai, Herman Li, Stone Temple Pilots and Slash, to name a few. 'Dangerous Knowledge' is their first international release; the album is available on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. They have won several awards including ‘Best Rock Band’, ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Male Vocal’.

girugamesh

girugamesh is a Japanese band formed in 2004 including members Shuu (bass), Nii (guitar), Яyo (drums) and Satoshi (vocals). They began getting stellar reviews in Europe and expanding their scope abroad in 2007, playing large overseas festivals the following year. The band played for 13 straight days at Shibuya’s WWW, headlining “Tokyo Sadistic – 13 days without a break” in February 2012. In 2013, the band aimed for new heights with a new single and visual motif. A new single, 'Incomplete', was released in September, and the band’s sixth album, 'Monster', was announced.

Another local band set to put on a big show in November is Turtle Giant.  They will be appearing at this year’s edition of Clockenflap in Hong Kong.

Now in its sixth year, Clockenflap 2012 saw 18,000 festival-goers enjoying the event, and 30,000 people are expected to attend this year. The stellar lineup for 2013 includes: Franz Ferdinand (UK), Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (US), Two Door Cinema Club (Ire), Four Tet (UK), Chic ftNile Rodgers (US), Cui Jian (CN), Metric (CA) 2ManyDJS (BE), and Efterklang (DK).

Inspired by such international festivals as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock and South by Southwest, Clockenflap has never been motivated by profit. Founded in 2008, the organisers have kept a firm focus on providing Hong Kong with the kind of festival people crave and deserve. The festival offers the chance to experience a completely different side to Hong Kong: escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a world of music and arts, grass and greenery, all set against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s skyline.
