Organized by the Taipa Village Cultural Association, in collaboration with the British Council and the Macau Digital Photography Association, the DREAM WITH LOVE campaign aims to support the local underprivileged community and disabled people by promoting the value of social inclusion, by raising the profile of the disabled community and creating a positive profile in society through love and dedication.
The campaign consists of a series of art events and activities against the cultural backdrop of charming Taipa Village, and includes a collective photography exhibition, keynote sessions and special performances which will collectively promote the value of “One Unity” and “Embrace Diversity”.
One of the highlights is certainly an unprecedented photography exhibition, the renowned 11 Million Reasons Exhibition presented by the British Council and conceptualized by People Dancing. Making its debut in Macau and only its second stop in Asia, 11 Million Reasons aims to raise public awareness and show respect to those fighters who face and overcome their physical constraints, through 20 powerful, emotive and humorous images, inspired by iconic dance moments from classic films. The exhibition will officially open on July 26.
Alongside 11 Million Reasons will be two specially created local photography series – The Harmony Collection and The Dream Collection – unveiling the beauty and authenticity of disability art. The Harmony Collection captures the magical moments of the interaction between the local community, merchants, the underprivileged community and disabled during community events, through 10 joyful and touching images.
The Dream Collection aims to bring the disabled and professionals together, allowing the former to share and learn about photography theory and shooting skills, to deliver the positive message of “Physical Constraints Do Not Affect Personal Ability” to the general public.
In addition, the campaign is also complemented by “Art in Unity” keynote and special performance sessions to spread the message of “One Unity, Embrace Diversity”, working with a number of community partners, production partners and associates to make this campaign a reality.
Taking place on August 5 from 14:00 – 18:00 in Carmo Hall, the “Art in Unity” Keynote and performance session is going to invite different community associations including the Macau Autism Association, Macau Deaf Association, Arts and the Disabled Association Hong Kong, Ivy Kok a visually impaired victim, as well as local Macau singer Romeu, to share different ideas and performances of achieving one unity through Love and Art.
