Deconstructing Hearts

by
What does it mean to meet someone? How to capture the precise moment when two lives come into connection, ceasing to exist in parallel universes? In the performance From In, thrilling choreographer Xie Xin plunges us into a time and space on the edge between dreams and reality, where pieces of memories are constantly layered, one upon each other. Described as a frenzied display of contrasts, this enigmatic and graceful dance piece is constructed by nine dancers, spectacular figures who appear and disappear, just like fading images in a film. Xie Xin explores a multiplicity of moments where the bodies are taken to the extreme, flowing in their elasticity to produce an aesthetic of supreme elegance.

Dubbed as a driving force and ground-breaking creator in the development of Chinese contemporary dance, Xie Xin founded her Dance Theatre company in 2014. Since her debut, collaborations with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and many other international artists have nourished the dancer and choreographer’s incomparable style. Imbued with great spiritual strength, between solos, duos or ensembles, From In is at the same time an ode to solitude and an emotional expression of our constant search for the other. A smooth discovery that will touch us with the lightness of plumes, and the sheer power of beauty.
