Set between contrasting atmospheres, moving effortlessly between a sunny world and a terrible, dark kingdom inhabited by spirits, Giselle has been captivating audiences around the world, telling the story of a young peasant girl who dies of grief when she discovers her sweetheart is betrothed to another. Having joined a ghostly army of maidens who haunt the forests, Giselle will carry out the ultimate act of love and forgiveness, saving her beloved from the vindictive spirits, before finally disappearing with the first rays of dawn.
This revival of Coralli-Perrot’s unforgettable choreography takes us back to the Romantic roots of the renowned Milanese ballet, during the 1800’s. Later on, the company would further elevate its statute featuring the best names of the 20th century dance panorama, from choreographers Roland Petit and Maurice Béjart to various guest stars like the legendary Rudolf Nureyev and artists with links to the prestigious Ballets Russes.
