KAMASI WASHINGTON

When Kamasi Washington released his tour de force LP, The Epic, in 2015, it instantly set him on a path as our generation’s torchbearer for progressive, improvisational music that would open the door for young audiences to experience music unlike anything they had heard before. His mass appeal continues to grow, drawing vibrant, multi-ethnic and multi-generational crowds with tour stops at the world’s most prominent festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, Bonnaroo and Primavera.

Bath Full of Ecstasy
Hot Chip

Hot Chip have been around for nearly 20 years and on A Bath Full of Ecstasy the band has, for the very first time in their career – opened up to outside producers, Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix) and Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, David Byrne).  The UK quintet’s seventh album gives way to all sorts of experiments, alternating between hot and cool, deep and surface skimming – leaving us marvelling at how, after all these years, they continue to find new depths to dive into and edges to push farther.

Office Politics
The Divine Comedy

Wry, lyrical observations of everyday realities have long been the staple of Neil Hannon. The new 16 track concept album, Office Politics sees his wit and pop songwriting skills take on the nature of the workplace, as well the role of technology and the effects it has on society. Expect an eclectic musical trip on the 12th studio album and first double from the Northern Irish orchestral pop band fronted by Hannon.

The Book Of Traps and Lessons
Kate Tempest

London-born, Brit Award-nominated spoken word artist, rapper, poet, novelist, and playwright Kate Tempest she has redefined what it means to be a wordsmith today, since her emergence in 2011.  Her third studio album is a 45-minute set that has been described as a “feast of words, passion and her best work yet” by record label Rough Trade.  Having been nominated nominated at The Brit Awards for Best Female Solo Performer last year, this is an artist showing no signs of pacing her meteoric rise.
