Reflection
Brian Eno
Eno issued a long statement about the album Reflection in November, which he stated is the result of “generative” processes for composition that are “over 4 decades” old. An ambient release available in standard physical forms and an “endless and endlessly changing” generative app, Eno’s latest work went on sale on January 1.
He explained the project in a statement discussing the intent of his ambient experiments, calling Reflection “the most sophisticated of them so far. My original intention with Ambient music was to make endless music, music that would be there as long as you wanted it to be,” he said. “I wanted also that this music would unfold differently all the time – like sitting by a river: it’s always the same river, but it’s always changing.”

I See You
The xx
Four years after releasing their sophomore album, Coexist, the xx have released their highly anticipated follow-up. I See You was released on January 13. The album, produced by Jamie xx and Rodaidh McDonald, was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York, Marfa, TX, Reykjavik, Los Angeles, and London.
A stark departure from the band’s previous two LPs, 2009’s breakout XX and 2012’s Coexist, it’s a colourful, sometimes joyous record that maintains their signature sound, but finds them exploring unchartered territory.
