I can feel you creep into my private life
TUNE-YARDS

It’s been four years since Merrill Garbus’ last album as Tune-Yards, Nikki Nack. I can feel you creep into my private life is her fourth album and has been described as reminiscent of early Talking Heads. Thematically, the twelve new songs tackle race, politics, intersectional feminism and environmental prophecies head on. Despite the intense subject matter, the album delivers their most upbeat music yet – music to dance to.

Wrong Creatures
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

After 20 years and seven albums, blues-based psych rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club return with Wrong Creatures. Speaking of the personal challenges the band has faced, vocalist Robert Been sums it up: “It’s a crazy making machine, it can chew you up as fast as it spits you out. A few years back we literally toured till the wheels came off and Leah’s brain literally started leaking out of her head. It catches up with you, I know I’ve battled on and off with my own depression, and Pete’s head never came with any proper instructions. So you just gotta keep pushing buttons to see what happens.” And, luckily, the band played on.

Marble Skies
Django Django

Django Django have earned a reputation for engaging alt-pop since their self-titled, Mercury-nominated debut in 2012. Their third album, Marble Skies, is eclectic and rich in disparate elements that defy easy classification, more expansive and refined than their 2012 body of work.  The band’s much-publicised regard for the art school collage/cut-and-paste approach remains firmly in place, however what holds the album so well together are the irrefutable smile inducing melodies.
