Dominic Miller has recorded with rock stars Phil Collins, Sheryl Crow, Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner and Rod Steward and he has also played on every Sting album and tour since 1990. Miller, supported by a cast of internationally acclaimed musicians, will bring to Macao selections from his new album “ad hoc”, combining elements of modern jazz, electronica, acoustic folk, contemporary classical music, and world music.

Aaron Goldberg Trio

Described as one of the “most exciting, inventive and lyrical pianists in the world of jazz”, Aaron Goldberg has performed and recorded with some of the most brilliant jazz voices, including Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, and Betty Carter, among others. Winner of numerous awards, Goldberg has collaborated on over 75 albums and performed in fundraising concerts for American President Barack Obama. In Macao, Goldberg is joined by two of the premier voices of his generation, bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Kendrick Scott.  The Aaron Goldberg Trio’s performances are known for their burning intensity, limitless imagination, exquisite sensitivity and abundant soul.

Duo Parnas 
 
 
The brilliant violin and cello duo of Madalyn and Cicely Parnas, known as Duo Parnas, possess the rare combination of passion and fiery technique coupled with sophisticated musicianship. Granddaughters of the legendary cellist Leslie Parnas, both sisters are respected soloists in their own right. Over the last 15 years, they have engaged in an artistic collaboration that has been described as “an intricate give and take between the cello and violin, perfectly balanced and suffused with electricity and drama.”

Russian Romanticism
 
 
The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1882 and quickly established a reputation for insightful and discerning interpretations of both Russian and foreign works. Yuri Temirkanov, recipient of numerous awards and commendations, was selected artistic director and principal conductor of the Orchestra in 1988. His award-winning recordings with the orchestra have been recognised around the world.

Portuguese Music from the 17th and 20th Centuries   
 
 
Presented by the Coro Gulbenkian under the direction of Jorge Matta, and with Maestro Jorge Matta
Sérgio Silva on organ, this performance presents an exhilarating musical dialogue between colourful historical repertories and contemporary works by Portuguese composers. This concert also features the rich musical incantations of Fernando Lopes-Graca, the invigorating impressions of Brazil, musically encoded by Christopher Bochmann, and the music of Eurico Carrapatoso, who set poetry by Camilo Pessanha, a Portuguese symbolist who made Macao his home.

JiangnanSizhu 
 
 
The exceptional Chinese Music Orchestra of the Jiangsu Provincial Performing Arts Group performs lyrical ancient and modern Jiangnan Sizhu music for three consecutive days in the World Heritage-listed Mandarin’s House. Sizhu, literally “silk and bamboo”, refers to string and wind musical instruments, and bamboo being the material from which the Chinese flutes such as the dizi and xiao are made. Boasting a history of more than half a century, the orchestra has created a unique style over time, being especially adept in expressing the exquisite music of Jiangnan. The orchestra has toured Europe, the Americas and Asia, receiving praise from audiences, and experts, winning a reputation at home and abroad.

Hairspray – The Musical
 
 
This thoroughly solid piece of musical theatre takes you back to the racially charged atmosphere of 1962 Baltimore, and follows the dreams of a heavy-set, 15-year-old dancer on a local TV dance program. Full of bubbly songs with beat, Hairspray has taken the world by storm. The original Broadway production opened in 2002, and the show ran for over 2,500 performances. In 2003 Hairspray won 8 Tony Awards, while the London West End production was nominated for a record-setting 11 Laurence Olivier Awards, winning for 'Best New Musical'. 
Performed in English, with subtitles in Chinese, Portuguese and English.
