Calling for Creativity

by

Creative Macau – Centre For Creative Industries has upsized the Sound & Image Challenge this year and will organize the Sound & Image Challenge 2015, Short-Film Festival. The event comprises two separated contests, Short-Film contest – SHORTS and Music Video contest – VOLUME.

The organizer is calling for producers from Macau and all over the world to submit their films and videos in a bid to win the prestige and attractive prizes. Both contests are open for submission from March 16 to June 16 this year. The list of music compositions for music video productions entering VOLUME can be downloaded from the Sound & Image Challenge official website www.soundandimagechallenge.com.

The Sound & Image Challenge Festival 2015 will be held from December 1 to 6 this year. A series of cultural programs will be scheduled in venues throughout Macau during the Festival week, including shortlisted film screening; seminars of film production, development, International Film Festival curatorship and organizing; audience voting for “Public Favourite Award”; award ceremony; as well as winning-video band of “VOLUME” performing its work live at the award ceremony during the festival.

Between the two contests, the “SHORTS” awards the best short-films in the four categories of fiction, documentary, animation and advertisement; while the “VOLUME” collects music videos that are created by global producers, with songs composed by Macau locals. The winning-video song will be recorded as the theme song of the festival. It is an unprecedented contest that links Macau musicians and global producers together in creating productions on a large scale.

The Sound & Image Challenge was first launched in 2010 by Creative Macau – Centre For Creative Industries as an annual world wide audio-visual contest that aims to motivate local film producers and encourage overseas productions to compete in Macau. Since collaborating with co-organizer, University of Saint Joseph in 2014, the model has evolved into a cinematic concept based on the four currently defined categories.
