A special afternoon tea experience at St. Regis

The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central is pleased to launch Pink Gold & Black Pearls, a special Afternoon Tea experience inspired by the limited-edition jewelry piece designed by Bao Bao Wan, renowned jewelry designer and the first St. Regis Connoisseur from China. The bespoke teapot-shaped pendant with inlaid gemstones that was unveiled earlier this year, and is now available for order in the St. Regis online boutique –

The exquisite 18K rose gold teapot pendant represents Bao Bao Wan’s own interpretation of the brand’s iconic St. Regis Afternoon Tea Ritual and features unique brand elements. The St. Regis monogram is proudly displayed, along with seven inlaid diamonds on its handle as a tribute to the St. Regis matriarch ‘The’ Mrs Astor’s love for diamonds, as well as a red ruby on the teapot lid - a nod to the brand’s signature color of King Cole’s ‘The Red Snapper’, today’s famed Bloody Mary.

Pink Gold & Black Pearls Afternoon Tea Set will be offered at The St. Regis Bar starting June 23 from 2:00 – 5:30pm daily. To launch this jewelry-inspired experience, from the launch through to July 9, guests will be invited to join a contest to win a Bao Bao Wan pendant of their own, and an all-inclusive stay at The St. Regis Macao.

“We are delighted to offer guests a whimsical and creative way to celebrate our partnership with Bao Bao Wan and the storied tradition of Afternoon Tea at the St. Regis,” said Janet McNab, Managing Director of Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel and The St. Regis Macao. “Our Afternoon Tea is an exquisite blend of English and Chinese traditions. With our Pink Gold & Black Pearls experience, we are inviting guests to add their creative spirit and start their own traditions right here at The St. Regis Macao.”

Initiated by the Duchess of Bedford of Britain, dating back to the 18th century, the Afternoon Tea Ritual was particularly appreciated as a heritage by Mrs. Astor. Regarded as the grand dame of New York high society in the late 19th century, Mrs. Astor transformed this legendary social ritual into a private social gathering that was exclusively held for socialites and élites. Being of Chinese descent, Bao Bao Wan has a natural understanding of the juxtaposition of Western and traditional Chinese tea culture, fully embracing traditional spirits of respect, reunion, gratitude and celebration in her design.

“Every gemstone is a gift from nature and a source of revelation, which I hope to share with everyone through my design,” said Bao Bao Wan. “I was very inspired by the St. Regis Afternoon Tea Ritual, a timeless legacy passed down from Mrs. Astor as the prelude to some of the most legendary social events, and I hope to convey the brand’s hallmark sense of hospitality through this piece.”

Through its unique Connoisseur program, St. Regis has taken special care to partner with ambassadors who share the brand’s commitment to excellence and speak to the passions of its guests, while offering an authentic connection to the St. Regis legacy. Born in Beijing, Bao Bao Wan was the first Chinese debutante to be invited to attend the famed Bal des Debutantes at the Hotel Crillon. Often traveling the world in search of a renewed vision for her designs, Bao Bao Wan epitomizes today’s St. Regis luminary, inspired by modern glamour and cultural sophistication. Bao Bao Wan describes St. Regis hotels as embodying a home away from home and has found deep inspiration in the intricate detail of each property’s architecture, décor, design and bespoke services. Together with other St. Regis Connoisseurs, including celebrated polo player Nacho Figueras, fashion designer Jason Wu and modern jazz icon Jamie Cullum, Bao Bao Wan now complements an elite group of brand ambassadors. Together, they help to further establish St. Regis as an authority in style and design, the arts, philanthropy and sport – all passions of the St. Regis global clientele.
